Student Showcase

Art Show 2024

LSMS art students worked really hard to make art to display in this year's art show. The art show is an exciting time where students can present their hard work to their parents.

"Who are some of the students that are showing their art?"

Mrs. Morningstar -  "6th,7th, and 8th-grade pieces that really stood out throughout the year. "

"What kind of art will be in the art show?"

Mrs. Morningstar -  "All kinds of art!"

"What's your favorite part of the art show each year?"

Mrs. Morningstar - "Seeing parents being proud of the students."

"Do you think the students are excited to show off their art?"

Mrs. Morningstar - "Of course, showing off their art makes them feel special and appreciated."

6th Graders Study Botany in Stretch

Students in Mrs. Spellmeyer's 6th grade Stretch class spent a few weeks learning about botany, the study of plants.  As part of their learning, students video conferences with a botanist and created plant replicas.

6th grader, Ava M. told us that this "was fun to learn. I  prefer it a lot more than researching stuff or reading an article."

Students Create Graphic Novels in LA

Mrs. Fennessey's 6th grade classes all participated in a project. They took a part of the short story What's the Worst That Could Happen? by Bruce Coville, and showed the story in graphic novel form. The point of this lesson was to show how a story could be told in different versions. The students got to add their own touch in their graphic novels. For example, by choosing what their charecters looked like. This could be people and animals.

The Black History Wax Museum

On February 29th, students got to see the Black History Wax Museum and admire the hard work of the students participating in the museum. Students participating picked a leader in African-American history and portrayed them in costumes, done by Mrs. Ahlert and her classes, and also wrote their own scripts.

Congratulations to all the members of the museum for your amazing performances!
