The Paramus Public School District places a high value on professionalism, punctuality, and consistent attendance as essential components of employee performance. Regular and timely attendance is critical to maintaining the effective operation of our schools and supporting the educational needs of our students.
Employees are expected to report to their designated work locations on time and to remain on duty for the duration of their assigned work schedule, as established by their supervisor and in accordance with their employment classification and collective bargaining agreement.
Employees must adhere to their scheduled start and end times unless prior approval for a schedule adjustment has been granted by their immediate supervisor or building administrator.
All employees are required to accurately record their time and attendance in accordance with the District’s procedures. This may include electronic timekeeping systems, sign-in/sign-out logs, or submission of daily attendance sheets, as applicable to the employee's classification.
Employees must not record time on behalf of another individual under any circumstances. Falsification of time records or tampering with attendance documentation may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Employees who are unable to report to work as scheduled must enter their absence into the Absence Management System (Frontline, formerly Aesop) as early as possible, and no later than the start of their shift. Absences that require substitute coverage must be entered with sufficient notice to allow for proper staffing arrangements.
If an absence cannot be recorded in the system due to timing (e.g., less than 30 minutes before the shift), the employee must notify their direct supervisor or building administrator immediately.
Unreported or repeated unexcused absences may be considered job abandonment and may result in corrective or disciplinary action.
Employees are expected to arrive at work on time and remain until the scheduled end of their shift. Frequent tardiness or early departures, even in small increments, disrupt operations and may be subject to disciplinary action.
If an employee anticipates being late or needing to leave early, they must obtain prior approval from their supervisor and ensure accurate recording of their time.
Excessive absenteeism, tardiness, or misuse of leave time—regardless of intent—may have a negative impact on job performance and may lead to disciplinary measures in accordance with District policy and applicable labor agreements.
Supervisors will monitor employee attendance patterns and may request medical documentation or initiate an attendance review if concerns arise.
All employees are expected to comply with District timekeeping and attendance policies, as well as any additional attendance-related provisions outlined in their respective collective bargaining agreements. Questions regarding timekeeping procedures, leave balances, or absence reporting should be directed to the Human Resources Department or the employee’s direct supervisor.
