All staff transfers, whether voluntary or involuntary, are implemented at the sole discretion of the Paramus Public School District and are carried out with thoughtful consideration of the District’s educational priorities, programmatic needs, and personnel resources.
Advance the overall educational mission of the District.
Meet the evolving needs of individual school programs and student populations.
Ensure equitable distribution of staff expertise across schools and departments.
Support the professional growth and well-being of employees
When determining the necessity and appropriateness of a transfer or reassignment, the District considers a range of factors, which may include, but are not limited to:
Operational and staffing requirements.
Student enrollment trends and demographic needs.
Programmatic objectives or restructuring.
Employee qualifications, certifications, and areas of expertise.
Performance evaluations and professional conduct.
Opportunities for employee development and retention.
Collective bargaining agreements and contractual provisions.
All decisions regarding staff movement are made in alignment with District goals and in compliance with applicable Board policies and negotiated agreements. While employee preferences may be taken into account when feasible, the final decision rests with the administration and is based on the best interests of the District.
Employees affected by a transfer or reassignment will be notified in writing and provided with relevant details, including the effective date of the change, the new assignment location or position, and any applicable transition procedures.
The District is committed to managing transfers and reassignments in a manner that is equitable, transparent, and consistent with our commitment to educational excellence. All transfer decisions are guided by the principles of fairness, respect, and service to the school community.
