Paramus Public Schools is committed to supporting the health and well-being of its employees by offering comprehensive dental and vision insurance coverage as part of the District’s benefits program. Eligible employees may elect to enroll in dental and vision plans, which are designed to provide preventive care and treatment services that support long-term health and quality of life.
Employees who meet the eligibility criteria established by the District shall be enrolled in the dental and vision insurance programs. Coverage may be extended to eligible dependents, including spouses, civil union partners, and dependent children, provided that all plan requirements and documentation are satisfied. Dependent coverage is subject to age limitations, which include children ages 2 through 19, and up to age 23 if the dependent is enrolled as a full-time student.
The District’s dental plan provides coverage for a broad range of dental services, including:
Preventive services such as routine exams, cleanings, and X-rays.
Basic restorative care, including fillings and extractions.
Major services such as crowns, bridges, and dentures.
Orthodontic treatment (if included under the selected plan).
The vision care plan offers coverage for:
Comprehensive eye examinations.
Prescription eyeglasses, including lenses and frames.
Contact lenses (in lieu of eyeglasses).
Discounts on additional vision products or services.
Vision benefits are typically provided on an annual or bi-annual basis, depending on the terms of the plan. Covered services must be obtained from participating providers to ensure maximum benefit reimbursement.
Employees may be responsible for deductibles, co-payments, or out-of-pocket expenses, depending on the type of service received and the provider’s participation in the plan’s network.
Eligible employees may enroll in dental and/or vision plans during:
Initial employment
The annual open enrollment period
Within 30 days of a qualifying life event (e.g., marriage, birth of a child, loss of other coverage)
Changes to coverage must be submitted within the specified time frame and accompanied by appropriate supporting documentation, where applicable.
Dental and vision insurance coverage is offered on a contributory basis. The District may cover a portion of the premium cost, with the employee responsible for any remaining balance through payroll deductions. Current rates and contribution schedules are available from the Human Resources Department.
Questions regarding plan details, participating providers, claims, or coverage limitations should be directed to Human Resources.
