Week 4

Bad Hair Day

New York Post

This week we will be combining line, pattern and collage all into one project. We will take what we learned from our previous lessons and continue with a new project that will take you to the next level!

Please look at my project examples below before we discuss the project.

So much going on in these pieces of artwork! All of these people are definitely having a bad hair day! Let me take you through the steps of the project:

First I found a picture of a person in a magazine. I cut the picture of the person out without their hair (that way I could draw it later). I glued the person onto a piece of white paper.

Next, I drew 2 lines - one on each side of the head showing where the hair will be. These lines can be straight, wavy, zig-zag - whatever you would like.

After that, I drew sections between the 2 lines that I could later fill in with different lines and patterns.

Now I was ready to fill in each section with lines and patterns. They could be designed any way you would like - dots, dashes, lines, checkerboard, shapes. I started with hearts in one section, thick lines in another, and then one with thin lines that were solid and dashed. Think about all the patterns you created in your Zentangles project.

Then I filled in the rest of the sections to create my "Bad Hair Day."
