Week 5

3D Homes

Snippety Gibbet

Last week we discussed what 3-Dimensional art is (known as 3D). We said it is not flat (because that would be 2D). 3D art takes up space. We created a 3D paper sculpture. This week we are going to design another 3D piece of artwork. Since you have been staying home the past month, I thought it would be fun to create a 3D sculpture of your home. Whether you live in a house or an apartment building, you are going to get to show me what it looks like. Do you have a blue door? How many windows do you have? These are the types of questions I want you to think about.

You are going to start with a lunch bag. Open it up and fill it with newspaper or whatever you have at home. Then you should glue your bag shut. Your artwork has already gone from 2D to 3D!

It is up to you if you want to glue your bag to a piece of paper, cardboard or something else. An example of this is gluing your bag to a green piece of paper to show grass. You should now decorate your bag and the area around the bag. You can use whatever materials you have - construction paper, crayons, markers or paint. Show me what your home looks like. Are there patterns on the roof? Do your curtains show in the windows? After you create your 3D home, then add extra details such as flowers and trees. You can even put people in the windows! Here are some examples:
