This week's theme for our Google Meet was "Summer." Here are the projects we did:
Kindergarten
This week we made my favorite summer treat, popsicles! To start, draw a capital "U" and then a line on top.
Cut it out and turn it upside down to get your popsicle. Cover the entire popsicle with cut up tissue paper. Glue the tissue paper flat. It can be an colors you want. If you do not have tissue paper at home, use whatever you would like to color it.
Flip your popsicle over so you can see any tissue paper that is over the edge.
Use a scissor to cut off any tissue paper that is showing.
Tape or glue a popsicle stick on the bottom.
Turn it over and see your amazing popsicle!
First Grade
This week we had so much fun roasting marshmallows over a camp fire! To make this, first cut up red, orange and yellow tissue paper into squares. Scrunch or crumple up your tissue paper and glue it onto a clear, plastic cup.
Continue until the entire cup is covered.
Make a marshmallow roasting stick by gluing a cotton ball onto a popsicle stick.
Make logs for your fire by cutting up brown construction paper. Take a brown marker or crayon to add details to your logs.
Now it's time to light up your fire! Take a flameless tealight and put it on your logs. Then put your cup over the tealight.
When it gets dark, see your camp fire glow!
Second Grade
One of my favorite things about summer is when the fireflies come out! I remember when I was younger I would catch them in a jar. This week we made pictures of fireflies in a jar. To start, draw any kind of jar you would like on a piece of paper. Make sure the jar is large and takes up almost your entire paper. This should be drawn in pencil.
Now you are going to draw fireflies in your jar. You can decide how many you want. Start by drawing a circle/oval for each of their heads and give them each 2 antennas.
Now give them each 2 wings.
Under their wings, draw the rest of their body.
Trace everything you drew with a black marker.
Using craypas or crayons, color in the wings white and bodies brown. Then make white dots throughout the jar.
Using watercolor, paint the fireflies and around the fireflies yellow. This will show them glowing!
Paint the rest of your jars whatever colors you would like.
