This is my ancestor Teri'i Tari'a Te-rā-tane, he is the farthest my family could get to, he was known as the last monarch of french Polynesia, well of Tahiti to be precise. I chose this because I thought that having a biography about the furthest end in my family tree would be pretty cool. Also, it would be easier to write about because he was royalty because he has historical records.
But enough of that let us get into the story. Teri'i Tari'a Te-rā-tane was born on 3rd November 1839, He was like any other kid back then, but instead, he was a royal prince so he was treated with respect. But until the death of his elder brother on 13 May 1855.
He became king of Tahiti after the death of his mother on 17 September 1877, after the crown he didn't really do anything that good. But one thing to note was that Tahiti and french Polynesia itself were battling for land as the British invaded the country's islands. This war was still going on since Pomare I's death. (3rd September 1803), and besides that everything was peaceful. But On 29 June, 1880, he was forced to cede Tahiti and its dependencies to France because they needed great help to defeat the British. After this act he was given the titular position of Officer of the Orders of the Legion of Honour and Agricultural Merit of France. He married twice, first on 11 November, 1857 to Te-mari'i-a-Teurura'i Ma'i-hara Te-uhe Ari'i-rahi of Huahine, on that island. He divorced her on 5 August 1861.
His second marriage was to Joanna Marau-Ta'aroa Te-pa'u (thereafter known as Queen Marau), at Papeete on 28 January, 1875. He divorced her on 25 January, 1888.But unfortunately, he died at the Royal Palace, Papeete and is buried at the Tomb of the King, Utu'ai'ai, in Arue. The most probably funny this in this story is that he died by alcahol which teaches people on why it's bad.
