My Biography is on my Great Grandfather Shao Sen Shen
Introduction
Shao was born on 10th of December 1931, and his parents are Shuchi Shen (Father), and Huashun Wu (Mother). His home town is Wu Shi Cun, which is a small town in the outskirts of Guangzhou. He is now 90 years old, and lives in Auckland.
Early Life
Shao has two sisters, three brothers and a step brother. He only went to school for four years. In his early life when he was only 19 years of age he became mayor of his hometown (Wu Shi Cun) and the neighbouring town, and he continued to be mayor for 50 years.
Contributions to family and community
He was 26 when he first married and he had six kids, and he later remarried at 56 and had two more kids. His sister and her fiance travelled to NZ to get married. Later one of his sons applied to get a visa so he could move to New Zealand to reunite with them. Afterwards, other family members started applying to move to NZ including himself in 1999. Then his dad got a work visa in NZ, he had to travel through Hong Kong. And to get to NZ (because there were no direct flights from China to NZ) and while he was there his passport, wallet, work visa, and documents all got stolen.
Conclusion
My Great Grandfather is currently living in Auckland near me and my family. I have learnt some quite cool things doing this biography. One thing I didn't know before is that my Great Grandfather was very well known in his community, since he was the Mayor for 50 years. I sometimes see him when we have dinners with my extended family and for his birthdays we will always go out to a Chinese restaurant and buy him a huge fruit cake. He is more on the quiet side now but he is very interesting if you get to know him.
