Paragraph One - Introduction:
Andy Rodger was my great granddad. He was born in 1923 and died on January 1993 age 69.
Paragraph Two - Early Life:
He was born in Deniston which is a town on the West Coast of the South Island. And went to school there. When he was young he worked in the coal mines on the west coast. Being a typical Coaster (from the West Coast), he loved white-baiting, horse racing, rugby - but his first love was football (soccer). He also had 5 brothers and no sisters.
Paragraph Three and Four- Contributions to family and community:
In his mid years he worked in various roles for Shell (now Z) but mainly as a petrol tanker driver. He was also a NZ Cement works driver. He also played left wing and represented Buller in this position he joined the bulla team when he was 27 years old.. He was married to Ethel Veronica Rodger (nee Byrne) and she died on September 14, 1993, aged 67. They had 8 kids together 4 boys and 4 girls one of the girls is my gran. He also had a lot of chickens.

My great grandad died on january 1993 age 69. Him and his wife died in the same year. He will be remembered because of the all the driving he did as a petrol tank diver and a cement driver. Also about how he played for the bulla football team. My dad started playing football because of him and I play because of my dad.
