Syzygium guineense
Syzygium guineense
Indigenous to the coastal area of Kenya is the proud Syzygium guineense tree, also known by its Kikuyu name Mukoe or Swahili name Mzuari. Although this tree will grow in open woodlands, it prefers moist soil and requires rainfall of over 1,000 mm per year. This tree is distinguished by its reportedly poisonous bark covering strong, hard wood. The bark and roots have been used for medicine, while other parts of the tree have been used as food, firewood, bee forage, dye, and others.

And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
