Casuarina equisetifolia
Casuarina equisetifolia
It isn’t an unfair assessment that many people hail the Casuarina equisetifolia as producing the “best firewood in the world.” Living 40-50 years and growing at a rate of 2 metres per year, this tree is frequently used to control erosion along coastlines and waterways. Even though firewood and charcoal is its claim to fame, the wood is also particularly useful in producing house posts, rafters, electric poles, tool handles, oars, wagon wheels and mine props. Because of its historic resistance to tropical cyclones and typhoons, many trust the Casuarina equisetifolia as their preferred tree for protective or boundary planting. Medicinally, root extracts are use to treat dysentery, diarrhea and stomachache.
—
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
Psalm 1:1-2
