Azadirachta indica
Azadirachta indica
In India, every part of the fast-growing evergreen Azadirachta indica is used for medicinal purposes. This tree typically grows up to 15 meters, with occasional specimens growing up to 25 meters. It bears an edible, yellow or greenish-yellow fruit. Also known as Neem in English and Mwarubaini in Kiswahili, it has potent detoxing qualities, such as destroying parasitic organisms, reducing fevers, and promoting healing. The leaves and seed oil are used to treat malaria and leprosy, respectively, and even the twigs can be used as dentist-approved toothbrushes. Besides its versatile use in treating illness, the fruits, leaves, and sap from the Azadirachta indica also have edible, culinary uses. The fruits can be prepared as a dessert or beverage, while the cooked leaves and flowers often serve as a pre-meal appetizer. Sap obtained from the branches and roots is often fermented and drunk.
—
...All things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
(Colossians 1:16-20)
