Juniperus procera
Juniperus procera
The Juniperus procera, a tropical highland species, has an extremely fragrant wood, which may remind someone of cedar. Because of this, the tree’s oil is often exported, not only for its aroma, but also for its antioxidant activity. Unfortunately, because of this trees variety of use, it has been extensively exploited as an export to European and North American countries, specifically as a material to produce pencils and penholders. It can also be used for ship and boat building, musical instruments, toys & novelties, and food containers, Alternatively, local populations prefer to use this tree’s parts as medicine. The leaves and bark have antibacterial properties used to treat stomachaches, and the young twigs produce a remedy against intestinal worms. The Juniperus procera, or Mutarakwa in Kikuyu, has also been used to treat fever by taking a hot bath infused with its leaves.

But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
