Craibia brownis
Craibia brownis
The Craibia brownis can grow up to 20 metres or more, with a round dense crown. It grows very slowly in the northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Tanzania, and here in Kenya, where it is common in the western highlands. After a long period of cooking, the seeds are fully edible. While this tree does not have as many documented medicinal uses as some others, it is particularly and uniquely useful in beekeeping practice. A unique blend of ash from this tree, which the Kikuyu call Mukubu, and ash from several other trees is used to attract bees to unoccupied hives.
—
The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus; it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the Lord, the majesty of our God.
Isaiah 35:1-2
