Melia valkensii
Melia valkensii
The Melia valkensii is most famous for its use by the Kamba tribe, who make door frames out of its wood. This tribe calls it the Mukau. This tree and its light, rounded or spreading crown, which reaches up to 15 metres, is highly prized in certain dry areas, where it has occasionally improved crop yields. Additionally, it is highly drought resistant. Although this tree’s bark has been useful in folk medicine, it is toxic when taken in large quantities.
