Erythrina abyssinica
Erythrina abyssinica
There aren’t many places in Africa (or most continents) where you aren’t bound to find an Erythrina abyssinica, otherwise known bas the Abyssinian coral tree in English or as Muhuti in Kikuyu. Here in Kenya, you’ll most likely find this tree in warm temperate or tropical areas. Although this tree is relatively common worldwide, its presence is welcome in every community. The Luo, who call this tree Murembe, associate the tree with evil spirits. Therefore, it is not planted in homesteads or left in farmland. In other places, the tree is used for a great variety of purposes, from beekeeping to veterinary medicine to curios.

And he said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how. The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.
