Calodendrun capense
Calodendrun capense
The Calodendrum capense truly takes its time when it comes to maturing—this tree, which Kikuyu populations refer to as Muraracii, will need about 10 years to flower! However, once established, this tree is not only hardy, but also quite graceful. People will enjoy viewing it along avenues, in public parks, and in their homes. Animals enjoy it too—monkeys and squirrels are known to eat young capsules with seed while on the tree. Found along Africa’s coastal forests from Uganda, to Kenya’s evergreen highland forests, to South Africa, the Muraracii can be found in a variety of soil types, including black cotton. Typical uses include firewood, charcoal, timber, cattle troughs, bee forage, and shade.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
