Week 2: Understanding Abstract Art
Sketches - Circles and Bubbles, Pyramids, Organic Folds
This drawing is using circles and bubbles only. My initial idea was just to draw circles and shades and see where it went, however as it progressed, I saw many hidden faces within my artwork and decided to go with that theme.
Elements used: Form and shape, line, space
Principle: Contrast
I went with a sort of minimalist theme for this triangle and concentrated on one main structure in the middle of the image. I think it looks alot like a pyramid idea.
Elements used: Form and shape, Space, Tonal Value
I initially begun by just randomly scribbling different loops on my paper. I noticed a few objects looked like musical notations and hence I went with that theme. I think it turned out pretty good.
Elements used: Texture, Color, Tonal Value
Principles: Contrast, Emphasis,
Week 3 to 5: Wire Sculpting Units
The Cuboid, Pyramid and Perfect Sphere
Open cube structure
Ways to draw a cube
Connecting a joint
My Challenges: (30 words)
My main challenge was that the wire was pricking me over the time I was bending it. This made me frustrated as folding the stiff wire was painful and difficult
My Strategies to overcome them: (30 words)
I used the pliers to fold them instead and used a magnet to hold the cube structure, allowing for an extra level of stability and making it therefore easier to fold.
Week 5: Design Draft
Making Abstract Art Pop
Design Draft 1
Describe your intentions and process plan.
WHAT am I making: I intend to make a museum using the curved bases and incorporating a spine into it
HOW do I plan to do this: Mainly use twirls and sqaures or cubes to merge it into the middle of my work.
WHY (intention): Showcase how architecture and the foundation/pillars of a work is just as important as the aestheticsi
