Title of Work: Tangled Jewel
Year: 2024
Medium: Wire Sculpture Art
Dimensions: 11x27cm
Artist Statement: 102 words
The pyramid's transition to the cylinder at the top of the sculpture and the flow downward represents the famous waterfall at Jewel. The loops and twists is a simple representation of flowing water in a minimalist, whimsical form. The structure looks like it could move or change if viewed from different angles, much like how Jewel’s dynamic nature can offer a different experience depending on your perspective.we used tying, interlocking and interweaving to connect the structure together. Overall, I am happy to try out wire sculpturing, as it helped to build my resilience when I struggle to tie the wire together properly.

Use of Positive Language to Nurture and Empower
ONE PRAISE: 30 WORDS
They worked together very well on tying the shapes together and securing the structure. overall, they seemed to have fun despite the amount of work.
Highlight the positive words used.
ONE POLISH: 30 WORDS
the structure could be improved, but they tried out many different methods to tie the cylinder and pyramid together and found the best one which is base had to be of higher surface area, which makes their structure differ from the original inspiration, but gave it more of its own unique style.
Describe the value-addedness to the impact of your peer's work based on your suggestion.
Team Review by Individuals
Zi Xuan:
What I have done
tying of the shapes together
Ideation:
picking out the place or structure to make
Implementation:
starting off with the cylinder making so as to have the foundation of the structure that we are making
Reflection (30 words)
I Used to Think:
the hands-on work was going to be a piece of cake and we could finish our structure in no time since it was just tying and twisting.
...but Now i Think:
it was so hard for us to tie the shapes, and if we did not have group work, working as an individual would almost be impossible and very time-consuming.
Shwaun
What I have done
Ideation: Getting inspiration from the design of Jewel and drawing the sketch of our draft for the project.
Implementation:
I helped to collect the wires and helped to secure the structure properly so my partner can tie the wires properly
Reflection (30 words)
I Used to Think:
that wire sculpturing was an easy task to do and I can be able to finish the task myself quickly
...but Now i Think:
that I need more practice and also help from others to have coordination and tie the scuplture well together.
Mentor's Feedback (to be completed by your teacher)
PRAISE:
Good teamwork between both of you. There is a good idea and representation to begin with, evident in your artist statement.
POLISH:
Could explore interlocking Pyramid forms, other than trying to create a straight cylinder which can be quite challenging, to improve the aesthetic quality of the sculpture.
