Making Abstract Sculpture
Design Draft 1
Describe your intentions and process plan.
We want to make a den-like structure and inside it, there is a swing-like structure and a spring to be as a tree trunk-like structure.
WHAT am I making: A swing with another structure stuck below the seat
HOW do I plan to do this: Using wires given by the teacher.
WHY (intention): It was from an imagination made by our fr

Title of Work: Bouncy Swing
Year: 2024
Medium: Wiring
Dimensions: 3D
Artist Statement: This artwork is inspired by an imagination made by a friend when he was younger. He remembered that he liked swinging from tree to tree. The artwork "Bouncy Swing" consists of a den-like structure that is his house, a swing for him to swing around and a tree trunk-like structure for him to climb about. Thus, we made this masterpiece. We chose to present these ideas by showing a trapezium-like structure with a cylinder stuck to it's bottom to show a main part of the swing -- the bench with a rope tied to it. We also used interlocking and overlapping thin wires around the structure to make the design more abstract. Overall, we are satisfied with our art work as we have put a lot of effort into this. We have learnt to become more patient while tying wire with the thin wire so that it would be more tight and won't fall off or move around.
