WONDER
(Develop Curiosity)
What do you see?
I see a painting filled of squares and rectangles of different colours.
What are the subjects in the Artwork?
Arrangement of objects
What are the Elements of Art used in the Artwork?
Colour, lines, shape.
What are some subjects in the foreground, middleground and background of the Artwork?
The arrangement of the shapes in the painting.
How are the subject matters arranged?
In an orderly manner.
Why did you think the artist arranged the subjects in this manner?
To make the painting look more neat and organised.
What do you think the Artist is trying to communicate in the artwork? How does the artwork make you feel?
To give an orderly vibe. This makes me feel happy as the bright colours I see uplifts my mood when I see it.
How do you think the elements of art were used to convey the Artist's intentions?
In squares and rectangles neatly arranged next to each other so the painting would give out a nice and orderly feel.
How was principles of design used to communicate and idea/ emotion?
The rectangles are in direct proportion to the squares so the painting seems neat and tidy on the whole.
Why do you think the Artist emphasised certain element in the work?
The lines are fine and tidy in the artwork so that the piece of art can look neat and organised.
What are you curious about the Artwork?
Because I want to know what the painter was thinking when he constructed this seemingly lively piece of artwork.
What are you wonder about the Artist's thought processes?
I'm wondering why the artist only used squares and rectangles to construct this piece of artwork when he could use other shapes like circles and diamonds.
What is interesting to you about this Artwork? And why?
I realised that the artist used the more basic colours like black and white, and the 3 primary colours only.
Are there any areas such as the title, style, or medium of the artwork that you are unsure and would like to know more?
The medium of the artwork.
What do you like to keep, destroy or replace? Why?
I would like to keep the thick black lines separating the square and rectangle boxes from each other, as I think that this can make the painting look more tidy. Without these lines, the painting might not look as organised as before.

Week 3 and 4: Wire Sculpting Units
The Cuboid, Pyramid and Perfect Sphere
Cuboid wire structure
Ways to draw a cube (Drawing)
Perfect Sphere
Connecting a Joint
My Challenges: The wire was extremely hard to bend, especially when I was trying to construct the right angled triangle. The wire always slipped out of my hands, and was difficult to control as making the structure needed lots of focus and also nimble hands.
My Strategies to overcome them: (30 words)
I decided to make use of my fingernails to bend the hard wires so it would not be as crooked, and I also realised later on that by using our fingernails to bend the wire, a right angle to make the sphere could also be formed easily.
Week 5: Design Draft
Making Abstract Sculpture
Design Draft 1
WHAT am I making: A sculpture symbolising the merge of a christmas tree and Singapore's famous infrastructure, the Esplanade.
HOW do I plan to do this: Bend the hard wires to form a curved and wavy shape to form the body of a christmas tree, and also construct a circle to symbolise the star on the christmas tree.
WHY (intention): This makes the sculpture looks more 3D shaped, and the wavy parts of the sculpture can also symbolise and represent Esplande better.
