Week 6: Design Draft
Making Abstract Sculpture
Design Draft 1
Describe your intentions and process plan.
WHAT am I making: a playground made up of mensuration shapes
HOW do I plan to do this: I plan to use wires and art skills
WHY (intention): so that I can express the idea of childrens' "playgrounds" being work and study

Artist Statement: 50 words
We are trying to present a playground made by shapes in the topic of mensuration in Math. My inspiration is that many children are not able to enjoy their childhood, which is represented by the playground, because their parents make them study since young, like doing math, which is represented by mensuration shapes. We alos presented these ideas by using the elments of art line, forms and shapes and the principles of art pattern, balance and variety. The techniques we are trying to show is tying, overlapping and interweaving. Overall, I am happy to do this project as I have learnt to become resilient.

Peer Feedback
Use of Positive Language to Nurture and Empower
ONE PRAISE: 30 WORDS
I think group 6 did a good job in making the spiral cylinder and the whole sculpture looks really magnificent. The sandwich shape triangle looks like a slide in playground and the interweaving in the side of the cube represents a ladder in a playground. Most playgrounds have a dome shape at the top and the spiral at the top of the cuboid really represents it.
Highlight the positive words used.
ONE POLISH: 30 WORDS
I think that the interweaving that represent ladders, the spiral at the top which represents a dome, the triangular cuboid sandwich shape that represents a slide, really adds a touch to the playground theme of the sculpture.
Describe the value-addedness to the impact of your peer's work based on your suggestion.
Team Review by Individuals
Name 1: Evangeline
What I have done: I contributed to interweaving of side of cuboid, sandwich triangle shape and the cube and also tying them together.
Ideation:
We both designed it with our own brain, using papers and pencils to draw to plan.
Implementation:
I used thick wires, thin wires(to connect and do the interweaving) and my hands to do the work.
Reflection (30 words)
I Used to Think:
Art is not fun.
...but Now i Think:
I think sculpture of art could be quite fun.
Name 2: Elise
What I have done: I contributed to the spiral cylinder, the small spiral at the top, the rectangular cuboid, interweaving at the side of the cuboid and also tying the shapes together.
Ideation:
We both designed it with our own brain, using papers and pencils to draw to plan.
Implementation:
I used thick wires for the shapes and thin wires for the interweaving and tying them with my hands.
Reflection (30 words)
I Used to Think:
Art is just about drawing and painting.
...but Now i Think:
Art can be many things and forms.

Mentor's Feedback (to be completed by your teacher)
PRAISE:
I like your idea as proclaimed in your artist statement. Everything is interrelated and gives your work added value if we could view it from other disciplines, in your case, mathematics.
POLISH:
Adding a slide (as in your draft) would add visual movement to your work and amplify the notion of 'playground'.
