Week 6: Design Draft
Making Abstract Sculpture
Design Draft 1
Describe your intentions and process plan.
WHAT am I making: triple esplanade
HOW do I plan to do this: We plan on making 3 esplanade like shapes
WHY (intention): Because the Esplanade is quite small and very crowded so we wanted more space to be made so that they feel happier when shopping
Week 7 to 10: Process Photos of Wire Sculpting
From 2D to 3D
The 3 separate parts of the sculpture
We did this by making a "quarter" shaped sculpture, an esplanade looking one by turning the wire to be a the quarter of a sphere, and then weaving the thin wire on the sculpture, hence, coming up with out
Brainstorming on how to connect these parts together to look the best
We thought of many ways to connect these three parts together and also asked the teacher the best way to connect it together and she suggested the technique and we followed her so the end product looks like that.
END PRODUCT!!
FINAL PRESENTATION

Title of Work: Triplet durian shells
Year: 2024
Medium: metal wire
Dimensions:
Artist Statement: we enjoy going to the Esplanade because it looks very pretty and magnificent and there are alot of shops there for leisure and is why many feel happy in Esplanade. But because the Esplanade is a tourist attraction so it gets incredibly crowded which causes the shoppers' to feel unhappy when shopping, created a triplet "durian shells" so people have space to do their shopping and it wouldn't be crowded and they will feel relaxed and positive so we got inspiration from the Esplanade. We used interweaving to create this sculpture mainly.

ONE PRAISE: 30 WORDS
Wow! your project is so great and its so creative like people do not usually think of making 3 esplanades and it is kind of hard to make, hence i think your group did a really great job in terms of making this project.
Highlight the positive words used.
Great, creative
ONE POLISH: 30 WORDS

What I have done
Ideation: I have helped with thinking of the idea for the metal sculpture. Besides that, i have also helped in the process of making the sculptures, ensuring that it is stable and it is , and with the polishing of the artist statement.
Implementation:
Weaving, tying the fine, thin wire together to secure it.
Reflection (30 words)
I Used to Think:
i used to think that it was impossible to create a sculpture out of wires, as it would be hard to bend, and is overall difficult to get it in shape.
but Now i Think:
Its not impossible. it only requires some hard work and effort to be put in, and constant redoing before it can succeed. After i learned the basic skills of using the wire, i was able to quickly do it, and even learned how to weave.
Mentor's Feedback (to be completed by your teacher)
PRAISE:
You did have an ambitious idea to begin with and later retract it into much simpler form to give focus and better clarity.
POLISH:
You could incorporate height or vary the sizes of the 'esplanade slices' to increase variety and add visual movement to your sculpture.
