Week 6: Design Draft
Making Abstract Sculpture
Design Draft 1
Describe your intentions and process plan.
WHAT am I making: A 3D structure consisting of 3 3D figures: a wave, cube and cylinder.
HOW do I plan to do this: Firstly, we planned out the layout and design of our architectural structure. Afterwards, we built the individual 3D figures before combining all of them to form our architectural structure.
WHY (intention): We were inspired by abstract art and wanted to combine simple geographic shapes, rather than focusing on realism.

FINAL PRESENTATION
Frontal (on flat surface)
Title of Work: Flowing Currents
Year: 2024
Medium: A5 Art block
Dimensions: 210 mm x 148 mm
Artist Statement: 50 words
Through our architectural structure, we tried to show how different types of curves and wires work together, showing how different shapes can be connected.

Peer Feedback
Use of Positive Language to Nurture and Empower
ONE PRAISE: 30 WORDS
We think that the curved base of the sculpture is very unique and emphasizes the soft features of this sculpture very nicely. The corners of the cube are also very precise, and the circles are very well done and consistently sized :) we think that a lot of effort was put into making sure that your sculpture looked neat and organised.
Highlight the positive words used.
ONE POLISH: 30 WORDS
some of the thin wire weaving could be a bit tighter and straighter, and more features of the sculpture could be slightly more textured to make it more visually apppealing and interesting
Describe the value-addedness to the impact of your peer's work based on your suggestion.
Team Review by Individuals
Name 1: Kaylee
What I have done
Ideation: I contributed to the ideas of the architectural structure and helped design it.
Implementation: I contributed to the making of the architectural structure by building some of the 3D shapes such as the cuboid. I also helped in the making of the cylinder.
Reflection (30 words)
I Used to Think:
I used to think that designing and constructing an architectural structure was a hard and tiring process, and would not be helpful to us at all.
...but Now i Think: I think that designing and constructing the architectural structure was an insightful experience as it allowed me to learn to be more patient, resilient and also, allowed me to learn a new skill.
Name 2: Renae
What I have done
Ideation: I also contributed to ideas like what types of shapes or structures to use and how to put them together.
Implementation: I contributed to the making of the structure my making some of the structures like the organic shape at them bottom and doing weaving on some parts of the structure.
Reflection (30 words)
I Used to Think: I used to think that creating such structures would be very boring and tedious.
...but Now i Think: I actually learnt many ways to make different structures along with many techniques like weaving, so it was more enjoyable than I thought.

Mentor's Feedback (to be completed by your teacher)
PRAISE:
I am pleased that your final outcome actually surprised you as you were struggling at some point and almost gave up. You showed patience with yourself and became more resilient than you thought.
POLISH:
I would add height if I had more time and 'grow' this structure.
