Week 6: Design Draft
Making Abstract Sculpture
Design Draft 1
Describe your intentions and process plan.
WHAT am I making:
We are making waves integrated in metal
HOW do I plan to do this:
We planned to bend wires into the shapes of ocean waves
WHY (intention):
We wanted to show that nature can be integrated into buildings
Week 7 to 10: Process Photos of Wire Sculpting
From 2D to 3D
1st Stage

Title of Work: Waves in Metal
Year: 9/2024
Medium: Wire sculpture
Dimensions:
Artist Statement: This building's name is Waves in Metal. It showcases the shapes of waves can be integrated into metal and the collaboration between natural and man-made things. We got the inspiration from the Singapore kitesurfer ---- Maxmilian Maeder. We presented our idea through form and texture. We used tying, interweaving and overlapping techniques. Overall, we are satisfied with the result of the project as we have learnt to be patient and have teamwork.

Peer Feedback
Use of Positive Language to Nurture and Empower
ONE PRAISE: 30 WORDS
I like how the lines look clean and the structure is stable and well made, it really adds to the waves idea with how water is smooth and flowy
Highlight the positive words used.
ONE POLISH: 30 WORDS
Weaving could be added to give it a more completed look with more dimension, so it is easier to tell which side is which, and overall improve this project although it is already good
Describe the value-addedness to the impact of your peer's work based on your suggestion.
Team Review by Individuals
Ruolin
I did the first and second sculpture, the ideas and part of weaving and bonding
Ideation:
We got the idea from maximilian maeder who is a kitesurfer, he inspired us to make use of the waves and infuse it into buildings
Implementation:
We bend the wires in the shape of waves and to show that wavesn which is part of nature can be infused into manmade structures
Reflection (30 words)
I Used to Think:
...but Now i Think:
Name 2: Yangchen
What I have done
I did the weaving, sculpting, third sculpture and artist statement
Ideation:
We got the idea from the Singaporean kitesurfer as we thought about how waves and metal can integrate to become a whole
Implementation:
We sculpted the wire in the shape of waves to show what the kitesurfer is surfing on, which is waves
Reflection (30 words)
I Used to Think:
that integrating nature into manmade materials was virtually impossible
...but Now i Think:
that it is possible to integrate to things which are so vastly different into one sculpture

Mentor's Feedback (to be completed by your teacher)
PRAISE:
I like the simplicity and clarity in the design, keeping faith to the draft.
POLISH:
Weaving could give your sculpture a solid body and add texture to your work.
