“It was my dream to become a football player who was able to play the large drums in a band during halftime,” said Maximus Wilson, senior at Menasha High School.
During his fifth grade year, the high school band came to his school. That's when Max signed up for the band… and he joined track.
Wilson loved to run so when he was bored he would go for a run. When he was upset and feeling down, he went for a run again. Wilson would go for runs no matter what his mood. It's what he loved.
Band and track has helped Wilson a lot; he was able to meet many people who enjoyed participating in the same extracurricular activities as him.
Band and track helped Wilson as a person both literally and figuratively and shaped his future. He does not plan on giving up these activities in his future and will find a way to incorporate them into his life. From either becoming a teacher, to joining a community band to even becoming a couch. He plans to keep his dreams going in the future.
Wilson had many great band directors throughout middle school and high school. Every single one of them has handed Max multiple opportunities.
And Wilson has been a big supporter for himself when it comes to track. “I know how important physical fitness is, as well as competition is in my youth.
WIlson was always such an outgoing student and kid, so when his first day for band and track began, he found himself nervous but he was also excited for this new opportunity.

Max was accepted and will be attending UW - Stevens Point and plans to learn towards Music Education- although he's split between that and Elementary Education. He does plan on running for the track team college, even though it's a high standard. Wilson also plans on playing some type of music while attending Stevens Point, which is why he plans on going for Music Education.
Max words of encouragement and advice from underclassmen who want to follow in his footsteps or pursue a career in music is:
“All I have to say is don't be afraid to be a ‘band kid’. In my senior year alone I have acknowledged being one, and I have gotten way more opportunities my senior year, than I have any other year in my life, in any aspect… Don't be afraid, go and attack and practice for what you want. If you want to be an all state athlete, go and get that.”
