A Flair For The Dramatic is the very first album released by Pierce The Veil. It’s classified as metal, rock, and alternative/indie. Released June 26, 2007, the album has 11 songs and is 40:29 minutes long.
This album is often skipped in the band's discography, and most newer fans don’t listen to it. It’s different from the rest of their albums and has more of a dramatic feel to it. With the clashing of many instruments, it gives the listener a lot to listen to and catch in the music.
One of my favorite songs from this album is “Wonderless”, a song about the aftermath of a toxic relationship. It’s sung from the point of view of someone leaving their lover to pursue their dream career in Hollywood. Towards the end of the song, the listener can tell that they don’t make it in their relationship or their career. I love the melodramatic and slow feel of the song. It’s quiet and calming despite the lyrics, in comparison to their other songs on the album. My favorite lyrics from “Wonderless” are:
“And If you don't find me on the front page
Find a way to say that you saw me
And If you don't find me in a movie
Find a way to say that you knew me”
The lyrics themself give me chills, but the background music is comforting. It’s an odd mix of emotions, but that’s why I like the song.
Another song on the album, “I’d Rather Die Than Be Famous”, seems to connect to “Wonderless”. As you can guess from the title, it’s about people who lose themselves in success and fame. Pierce The Veil themselves say, “I don’t ever want that to happen to us.”
Fan favorites from this album are “Yeah Boy and Doll Face” and “I’d Rather Die Than Be Famous”.
My Personal favorites are “The Cheap Bouquet” and “Wonderless”.
Fans of Pierce The Veil also like Sleeping With Sirens, My Chemical Romance, Get Scared, Flyleaf, Bring Me The Horizon, The Used, and Paramore.
