Spin the Pin Tag by: Mike Morris
Mike’s big hit of 2019 with the idea from @JDkeepmovin! This game took the PE world by a storm and it’s still popular today.
Small groups have a noodle, a hula hoop, and a bowling pin. We tell our students to keep their equipment around the perimeter of the space so people don’t trip over the hoop or pin.
I play it where a student will spin the pin and whoever it stops at is it and grabs the noodle and can tag whoever they want. Doesn’t matter if they are with your group or not.
Teacher can decide an exercise, dance, or whatever if a student gets tagged. Usually at around 30-45 seconds into the tag part of it, I will send the kids back to their hoop and they will spin the pin again!
From my experience with younger students, encourage them to come up with an order on who spins the pin before starting. They will TOTALLY argue about this. I did have a group who essentially punished themselves one time because they spent the whole time arguing about who was going to spin the pin and they never actually got to play the game.
