South
North
Two classes play against each other while the group walks the side lines and waits with 3rd-5th grade. 3rd-5th grade plays east to west like the diagram shows.
2nd grade can have two games simultaneously going on from north to south. The coach can bring some out cones on the east or the west for their little "mini game. 2nd grade layout plays north to south because it is a shorter distance to throw.
Kids slide beanbags on the floor, trying to hit the other team’s feet. If they get hit on the foot, they must get out and stand by the coach. After a certain number of children get out, the round is over. Coaches pre-determine that number and kids don’t know the number, or they’ll cheat. Usually 7-8 with older kids and 5-6 for younger students.Winner stays, loser is off. If a team stays in for 3 games in a row, they are off automatically. Rebalance Gators when starting new round
Getting back in: each team starts with 2 foam Gator Skin balls. If a child throws a gator skin and hits the other teams backboard, 1 teammate comes back in. If the ball hits the rim or net, 2 teammates come back in. If the ball goes in the hoop, all the kids who were out get back in the game. (They will totally celebrate!) Strategy is important. Don’t throw the Gator Skin if no one on your team is out. Encourage the kids to try and throw the Gator Skin, but if they obviously aren’t strong enough, they should give the ball to the teammate who is strong enough. 3rd grade will struggle to hit backboard due to strength. Encourage them to scoot up to the midline to try and throw it.
