There are two teams, but divided into 4 groups-
The Red Team: Red Belts/Red Jerseys,
The Yellow Team: Yellow Belts/Yellow Jerseys.
You see the belts are playing each other on the infield and the jerseys are on the outside. After the round is over, they will switch. The same colors do help each other. Red belts will throw a disc to their red friends on the perimeter and they will try to get the yellow friends in the middle out which keeps the perimeter kids engaged in the round.
Our version of Dodgebee.
Traditional Dodgebee uses only one disc and from watching video is more “outfield” focused. The way it has evolved in our large classes is that it’s more “infield” focused. With a class of 60 kids, one disc isn’t super engaging. We use multiple soft discs.
We encourage our kids to throw their discs low and they must hit the person from the knee down. If they throw it hitting a person above the knee, they are out.
If the disc is caught in the air when it's thrown from the opponent, the person who caught it can bring someone someone wearing the same color jersey/belt back in the game. (You can see the female student in the bright pink shirt wearing the red belt caught a disc and ran and grabbed a red jersey friend and brought him in a game. The Game ends when the last person on one color team is eliminated from the middle. Or if it’s taking a while, I will put on a timer and the team with the most players left in the middle will win. Then switch.
It’s a lot of fun because those that are playing in the middle are surrounded by their enemy.
