A second grade girl is trying to win the blue "space stone" from a male classmate.
A fourth grader beat me three times in a row to win the mind stone and won the whole round.
Off we go! Lots of running, lots of movement, lots of fun!
Kids pair up and stand in the color hoop of their choice. Have at least 2 pairs at each color. Each set of hoops should have a color coordinated pile of fluff balls/bean bags in front of the hoops.
Pairs take turns running and playing paper, rock, scissors against another color to try to win a “stone.” The partner who stays behind is also playing rock paper scissors protecting their own stones. Once a pair has collected all their stones, one player can go play rock paper scissors against their teacher “Thanos” and try to win the mind stone. For little kids, I’ll say they have to beat me 2 times in a row to win the stone. For the bigs, they have to beat me 3 times in a row. For littles, I’ll make them bring their beanbags to prove to me that they have won all the stones to qualify to play against me. Whoever collects all 6 stones wins the round and we start over again.
Our kids love this game! You see them running so fast across the gym. My classes are pretty large with 60-70 kids, so I usually will play with 1/2 of the class. THe game could be played with the whole class, but we would probably want 2 "Thanos" teachers and 2 mind stones or the line of kids playing a single Thanos is going to get super long.
Sample layout.
Each area should have a pile of color coordinated beanbags, fluff balls in front of it. I tell the kiddos they can go ahead and have their own stone from the area they are starting from so they can put that stone inside their hula hoop.
If a player wins a "stone" from another area, they can grab one and leave. No one can guard or prevent a stone from being taken if it has been won fairly through paper, rock, scissors.
The person who wins a stone can only take the color of stone from that area. Ex: Someone wins a purple power stone from the purple area...they can't take that player's soul stone that they already won from the orange area.
