Three Ways Out
by: Analisa Cardenas and Christi Hart, Lubbock ISD PE Teachers
Analisa and Christi taught this at a professional development and it's great for big classes. I usually have 1/2 the class with pins and half the class in line.
Three Ways Out is a continuous game so it never ends. The goal is to get in the game and guard a bowling pin for as long as you can.
Children can only slide one beanbag at a time and they can leave their bowling pin to get a beanbag but have to know there is a risk in leaving their bowling pin unattended!
You are out of the game when the following happens:
A classmate slides a beanbag and knocks over your bowling pin.
A classmate slides a beanbag and it hits you on your foot.
Or if you accidentally knock over your bowling pin.
If you are eliminated leave your bowling pin, go to the re-entry line and start moving through it by walking down the red line and moving down the blue line by marching up and down the step boxes to get your heart rate up. Encourage the kids to step on top the boxes and that will lessen sliding. I find most of my kids can get through the line in around 45 seconds so they get back in pretty quickly!
When you get to the front of the line, run out, find a bowling pin that is knocked over, and start playing again.
