Hello Cardinal Families,
Happy Thursday! Thank you to all those that came out to the Fall Festival on Tuesday Night! It was a huge success! We loved seeing all the costumes and parents enjoying themselves. Thank you to all the donations and parent volunteers that made this event possible.
LSC will support Breast Cancer Awareness on October 31st with a PINK OUT Day. Students may participate in wearing pink. No Halloween costumes permitted on October 31. Students may wear their full uniform if not participating in our PINK OUT!

Building Resilience and Empathy in your child
When it comes to empathy, lectures that begin, “You should care more about X because . . .” are rarely going to leave a lasting impression. Much more powerful will be the example your kids see you set and the extent to which you demonstrate what it means to listen to others, consider their perspectives and opinions, and care about them. That kind of modeling, particularly how you show compassion for them when they are having a hard time, will help your children build their capacity for empathy. And when they watch you make an effort to live a life full of concern for the people around you and an awareness of others’ needs, your kids will assume that’s just how things are done, and empathy will become more of their default approach to the world. (Daniel J. Siegel MD + Tina Payne Bryson PhD)

SEL At Home Connection: Help your child build empathy toward others and to see a situation through another perspective. As you read stories or watch movies, pause to discuss how the characters might be feeling given the circumstances.
When you are ready to learn you have an understanding of the world around you. You show respect to cultures and their views, as well as, value the customs and traditions that may be different from your own. You work to make a positive impact on everyone you meet. By doing these things, you are using the LifeLeader attribute GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE.
