Good afternoon Cardinal Families!
I can't believe how quickly this school year has gone. We are moving into the final weeks of school with just 15 school days remaining. This upcoming week, students in Grades 3-6 will take the Math STAAR assessment. Due to STAAR testing, our campus will be closed to visitors during the school day on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Mark your calendar for our end of year events. Third Annual End of Year Dance is May 16th from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Rest is Best!
As testing continues, make sure your child is getting enough rest. There are many signs that your child may not be getting the sleep that they need to be successful throughout the day. For example: less participation in class, poor school performance, irritability, sadness, headaches, and upset stomach. There are more consequences of not getting enough sleep besides decreased attention, impaired memory and slowed process. Lack of adequate sleep can lead to behavioral differences such as aggression, poor decision making, depression and anxiety as well as hyperactivity. Here are some tips to get started:
Set a specific bedtime (check the information on sleep by age)
Stop using electronic devices for at least an hour before this time
Create a relaxing bedtime routine (start 15-10 min before bed time)
Create a dark, quiet, comfortable and calming sleep environment
Create a celebration activity that you will do together when they have completed the challenge (set a goal that may allow for a day or two to miss so they stay encouraged)
You may want to print a calendar page and have them check the boxes as they reach their daily goal

College, Career, and Military Readiness Week is on May 6th to 9th. Above are the Dress up Days to celebrate that week. Please remember to wear uniform pants or uniform skirt on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, do not wear masks and do not have props. For Thursday, wear a college shirt with jeans or uniform pants/uniform skirt.
When you are ready for life, you take responsibility for your own behavior and actions. You know when you should change your behavior for the well-being of others around you. You are able to be in control of your body, thoughts, and emotions. By doing these things, you are using the LifeLeader attribute, SELF- MANAGED.
We’re committed to supporting all students' social-emotional behavioral (SEB) and LifeLeader development. Join us in supporting the growth by scanning the QR code for weekly conversation starters to reflect on SEB and LifeLeader skills with your child.
