2024-2025 New STUDENT Enrollment is Open!!!
2024-2025 New STUDENT Enrollment is Open!!!
New Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year opened February 1st. Parents, this is the time to enroll your new kindergarten students or other siblings you wish to attend Life School next year. If you have family or friends that may be interested in attending Life School, please encourage them to apply by clicking here or pass along their contact information by completing this referral form. The new student enrollment lottery will be held on February 29th.

Calendar Updates: Weather Make-up Day, Eclipse Closure
A weather make-up day has been added for Friday, April 5 due to the bad weather day on January 16. April 5th was previously designated as a staff development day and will now be a regular school day. Also, to limit disruptions related to the total solar eclipse, we have designated April 8 as a Student/Staff Holiday and Friday April 12 will be a regular school day. Please review the latest school calendar.

Well, Spring is in the air and so are many other things here at LSC. First off we have our Dunk'n to Reading Literacy Night this Tuesday, 2/27 and I'm so excited to say that we have partnered with Dunk'n Donuts and they will be serving free samples of both their hot and cold coffee drinks. Then we have our last Chick-fil-A night of the year on March 5th, right before we go on Spring Break. With all the fun that is happening on campus, we have also had some challenges with LSC Codes of Conduct. There have been several dress code violations, along with a few too many students heading down to the office for disrespect and defiance issues, especially when we have subs on campus. Parents, if you can please remind your student of our behavior expectations when on campus, I know that we can work as a team to get our Cardinals back on track. As you can see from our newsletter, this week's Positive Office Referrals have not been as active as we have seen in the past. Please help encourage your students to earn PBIS rewards like Cardinal Bucks and Positive Office Referrals. Let's finish strong this school year and be able to celebrate with a great field day.

Life School is excited to announce our 25 Years of Life Celebration…and you are invited! Hosted at UNT-Dallas Campus on Thursday, April 18th, the evening will begin with a pre-dinner reception filled with live music performed by current Life School students, and student artwork will be on display. Following dinner, we will honor outstanding parents, alumni, and community partners who have supported Life School throughout the years. Make plans now to attend! Congrats to our 6th Grade Team for having 98% attendance last week. They have won either a popcorn party or extra recess, their choice!! Who is going to win this week?
Studies show how critical it is for students to be at school everyday, all day, all the way! To help support our LSC attendance, we are going to host a weekly competition. The class with the highest attendance percentage each week will earn either extra recess or a class popcorn party. Please make sure to help your student's class be the top class by making attendance a priority.

Take the Sleep Challenge!
There are many indicators that your child may not be getting the sleep that they need to be successful throughout the day. There are more consequences of not getting enough sleep besides decreased attention, impaired memory and slowed process. Lack of adequate sleep can lead to behavioral differences such as aggression, poor decision making, depression and anxiety as well as hyperactivity. Here are some tips to get started:
Set a specific bedtime (check the information on sleep by age)
Stop using electronic devices for at least an hour before this time
Create a relaxing bedtime routine (start 15-10 min before bed time)
Create a dark, quiet, comfortable and calming sleep environment
Create a celebration activity that you will do together when they have completed the challenge (set a goal that may allow for a day or two to miss so they stay encouraged)
You may want to print a calendar page and have them check the boxes as they reach their daily goal
