Attention LSC family members:
Have you or a family member served or are currently serving in the military? If so, please be part of our Veterans Day video presentation by submitting your information to Mr. Perry. See informaton below
Would you like to attend the event? Please complete the Registration Form to skip the lines. Registration ends at noon on Wednesday. Please plan accordingly to miss time being checked in.
Studies show how critical it is for students to be at school everyday, all day, all the way! To help support our LSC attendance, we are going to host a weekly competition. The class with the highest attendance percentage each week will earn either extra recess or a class popcorn party. Please make sure to help your student's class be the top class by making attendance a priority.
The Gifted/Talented referral window will be October 30 - November 9, 2023. Referrals must be submitted by November 9, 2023. Please contact your student's teacher or campus counselor for further information regarding prerequisites and the referral process.
Come out to support Life School Carrollton by joining our Cardinal staff, parents, and students for a delicious dinner for a great cause - a CHIRPIE costume! We are so close to raising enough money to purchase our Cardinal Mascot costume!! This spirit night should put us over the top! We look forward to seeing you at BJ's and joining us for some yummy Pazookie! 😀
I can't believe we have already finished our first 9-weeks of school, had report cards, and are in the middle of Parent Conferences. This upcoming week will be our 4 week Progress Reports, so time is flying. Please remember, as part of your Parent Life Agreement, you need to be making sure you are checking on your student's grades on a regular basis and reaching out to their teacher if you have any questions and/or concerns. As I mentioned, we are in the mist of Parent/Teacher conferences and it is an integral part of the teamwork we all do to support your student. If you have yet to hear from your student's teacher to set up a time for your meeting, please reach out.
In closing, if you haven't yet signed up as a "Fan" of Life School Carrollton on Galaxy Digital, we need you to do that ASAP as this is a critical part of school plan. Please click: Fan of LSC.

Practicing Mindful Breathing
What is Mindful Breathing? The idea behind mindful breathing is that if we can control our breathing, we can also calm our body and mind. With that said, it’s not just a nice theory; there is actually scientific evidence behind it. When upset or overwhelmed, our bodies invoke a stress response known as “fight or flight.” It’s an important response that helps us avoid serious danger. The trouble is that we can also have this same response during arguments, worries, or when something doesn’t go our way. Practicing deep breathing helps to slow the heartbeat and lower blood pressure, allowing us to feel calmer, focused, and more in control. https://www.thepathway2success.com/mindful-breathing-activities-for-kids-teens/
SEL At Home Connection: Practice Mindful Breathing with your child. Try Apple pie breathing: Imagine there is a warm slice of apple pie in front of them. Have them slowly breathe in to smell the pie and then breathe out. Note that this breathing exercise really can be done with any type of food such as pizza or a warm cup of cocoa. Practicing this skill together when they are in a calm state is a great way to prepare them for when they may need it.
