Hello Cardinal Families,
Happy Thursday! Thank you to everyone that joined us for our Veteran's Day Program to honor all those who served to protect our country.
As a reminder, our campus will be closed for Thanksgiving Break from November 20th to November 24th. Classes will resume on Monday, November 27th.
This coming week no visitors will be allowed on campus on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Students in grades 3-6 will be taking their first Curriculum Benchmark. Encourage your children to do their best on these assessments as it helps our teachers know how to support your child's learning and academic success.
On Tuesday evening, join us at BJs for our next fundraiser from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. We are so close to raising enough money for our CHIRPIE mascot costume! See below for restaurant location. Don't forget to let your server know you are with LSC or show the below flyer when you arrive.
I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

Come out to support Life School Carrollton by joining our Cardinal staff, parents, and students for a delicious dinner for a great cause - a CHIRPIE costume! We are so close to raising enough money to purchase our Cardinal Mascot costume!! This spirit night should put us over the top! We look forward to seeing you at BJ's and joining us for some yummy Pazookie! 😀
Congrats to our 4th Grade Team for having 98% attendance last week. They have won either a popcorn party or extra recess, their choice!! Who is going to win this week?
Studies show how critical it is for students to be at school everyday, all day, all the way! To help support our LSC attendance, we are going to host a weekly competition. The class with the highest attendance percentage each week will earn either extra recess or a class popcorn party. Please make sure to help your student's class be the top class by making attendance a priority.
Our Cardinal Store is fully stocked! Thank you so much to our community for the support. Our Cardinals are so excited to earn Cardinal Bucks and go shopping!! This coming Tuesday we have a spirit night at BJ's Restaurant and they will be giving 20% of all proceeds to our campus and we will be using that money to finally purchase our Cardinal Mascot and the remainder will be going towards field trips for this year. Please consider joining us and make sure to share the flyer that will go home on Monday with your student.
Several of your are wrapping up your Parent Conferences with your teachers, I hope you have enjoyed getting to hear about your student's progress and targeted areas. Thank you for working with us in partnership with your student's education.
Our next Partners for Life Meeting is Thursday, November 30th @ 4:15PM and we will be working on Christmas campus events, campus needs for January thru March, and field trips for students. If you are a room parent/guardian, or on our Partners for Life Leadership, or just want to be more active in your student's education, please plan on attending this meeting.
In closing, we are so close to making our 2023/2024 district goal for Galaxy Digital. We are 10 fans short! If you haven't yet signed up as a "Fan" of Life School Carrollton on Galaxy Digital, WE NEED YOU! Please click: Fan of LSC.

The Powerful Impact of Gratitude!
Thanking others, thanking ourselves, Mother Nature, or the Almighty – gratitude in any form can enlighten the mind and make us feel happier. It has a healing effect on us (Russell & Fosha, 2008).
Gratitude impacts on mental and physical well-being. Positive psychology and mental health researchers in the past few decades have established an overwhelming connection between gratitude and good health. Keeping a gratitude journal causes less stress, improves the quality of sleep, and builds emotional awareness (Seligman, Steen, Park, & Peterson, 2005). Gratitude is positively correlated to more vitality, energy, and enthusiasm to work harder.
When we express gratitude and receive the same, our brain releases dopamine and serotonin, the two crucial neurotransmitters responsible for our emotions, and they make us feel ‘good’. They enhance our mood immediately, making us feel happy from the inside. By consciously practicing gratitude everyday, we can help these neural pathways to strengthen themselves and ultimately create a permanent grateful and positive nature within ourselves.
Simple practices like maintaining a gratitude journal, complimenting the self, or sending small tokens and thank you notes can make us feel a lot better and enhance our mood immediately. Couple studies have also indicated that partners who expressed their thankfulness to each other often, could sustain their relationships with mutual trust, loyalty, and had long-lasting happy relationships.

SEL At Home Connection: Begin a Routine of Thankfulness:
Create a GRATITUDE CALENDAR: Print out blank copies of a digital calendar and record one-three things you are thankful for each day for 21 days (the number of days to create a habit) and choose a time each day to share what you have written. You could even find a place in to hang up so you are reminded of what you have recorded.
When you are ready to learn you have an understanding of the world around you. You show respect to cultures and their views, as well as, value the customs and traditions that may be different from your own. You work to make a positive impact on everyone you meet. By doing these things, you are using the LifeLeader attribute GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE.
Check out this link for fun events happening in the community. For example, last Saturday is a Mother/Son Monster Mash at 6 pm. Full calendar here!
