A message from Principal Villavaso

Good evening Cardinal Families!

We are excited to announce that we 99% of parents responded during the re-enrollment window. Thank you for taking the time to communicate your desires for next school year. We are excited to serve our families again next school year. As a result of this strong engagement, all students earned a free jeans pass they can turn in any Thursday in February.

Regular attendance is key to your child's academic success. It is fundamental to academic success and overall student well-being. Each day presents valuable learning opportunities, and when students are absent, they miss out on crucial instruction, engagement with peers, and the chance to participate in various educational activities. This week our overall attendance rate was 93.4%. Our goal is 96% daily attendance rate.

Research shows a strong correlation between attendance and achievement. Students who attend school regularly tend to perform better academically, develop stronger social skills, and are more likely to graduate on time. Conversely, frequent absences can lead to gaps in understanding, hinder progress, and impact your child's ability to reach their full potential.

As partners in your child's education, I urge you to prioritize attendance and strive to ensure that your child attends school consistently and punctually. Please communicate with us if your child encounters any challenges that may affect their attendance so that we can work together to provide appropriate support.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and support in fostering a positive learning environment for all our students. Together, we can empower our children to thrive academically and achieve their aspirations.

Campus Updates

2024-2025 New STUDENT Enrollment is Open!!!

New Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year opened February 1st. Parents, this is the time to enroll your new kindergarten students or other siblings you wish to attend Life School next year. If you have family or friends that may be interested in attending Life School, please encourage them to apply by clicking here or pass along their contact information by completing this referral form. The new student enrollment lottery will be held on February 29th.

Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR)

District and campus Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR) are ready for you to view. The TAPR pulls together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year. Performance is shown disaggregated by student groups, including ethnicity and socioeconomic status. The reports also provide extensive information on school and district staff, programs, and student demographics. If you would like to view the campus or district TAPR, you may access those on TEA's website.

Wow, how is it already February? This is going to be a jam-packed month! We start this week with Celebrating our school counselor, Ms. Ren, with School Counselor Week (5th thru 9th) and a Spirit Night @ Chuck E. Cheese on Tuesday, February 6th (see coupons & flyer above). We also have Benchmark Testing this week and later this month we will be celebrating Valentine's Day with class parties on 2/15. Please watch for messages to be coming from your child's room parent/guardian for signing up to help decorate, donate, or help during the class party. We also have our Literacy Night this month on Tuesday, February 27th and our theme is "Dunk'n to Reading" with the Dunk'n Donuts Coffee Truck here to provide you with some yummy coffee. If you are interested in donating items or your time, please reach out to Ms. Bloss at rachel.bloss@lifeschools.net.

Do you ever find yourself asking, "How do I keep up with all the special things happening at LS Carrollton?" Then please register for Galaxy Digital and stay in the loop and get messages as events post. We have a district and school site goal for sign ups on Galaxy Digital, so if you haven't registered yet, please CLICK HERE . Last week our yearbooks went on sale and we have already sold about 20% of them. Once they sell out, we can't purchase more, so place your order early and don't miss out! See QR code below.

In closing, if you are interested in impacting your child's education and partnering with your child's school, please join us for our next Partners for Life Meeting on Thursday, February 15th from 4:15-5:00 PM, childcare is provided. We will be planning and discussing all of the remaining events for this school year.

attendance matters!

Congrats to our 6th Grade Team for having 98% attendance last week. They have won either a popcorn party or extra recess, their choice!! Who is going to win this week?

Studies show how critical it is for students to be at school everyday, all day, all the way! To help support our LSC attendance, we are going to host a weekly competition. The class with the highest attendance percentage each week will earn either extra recess or a class popcorn party. Please make sure to help your student's class be the top class by making attendance a priority.

Counselor Corner

Kindness Week is February 12th - 15th!

We will celebrate Kindness week with dress up days.

Monday: Dress like a superhero. No props, no masks, and no onesies are allowed.

Tuesday: Wear wild or silly socks.

Wednesday: Dress like a hippie. Wear tie-dye.

Thursday: Wear an LSC shirt or Valentine's clothes (ex: red, pink, or hearts). We are all on team kindness.
