Good afternoon Cardinal Families!
We had a fantastic first week back. This is going to be a fantastic semester. Come out and support your LSC family during the Martin Luther King Jr Parade in Carrollton. The parade starts at 10 am. We look forward to seeing you all there.
We are closely monitoring the weather for next week. If school closes or is delayed due to inclement weather, families will be notified in the following ways:
email, phone calls, and texts
our campus webpage; and
our social media page.
Campus is closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day. Classes resume Tuesday.

Please let me know if you need anything. We are always here to serve.

If your student in grades 3-6 is interested in Chess Club, please complete and submit the interest form by January 19th. Chess Club will meet after school from 4 pm to 5 pm the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
Happy 2024 and welcome back! What a great way to start the new year and 2nd Semester with our new CHIRPIE Mascot welcoming our students back to campus! Thank you so much to our Cardinal families for making our new mascot costume come to life! Our Family Spirit Night's are what made this moment possible!
We are excited to see, already in just the first few days, so many Positive Office Referrals (see below) great job Cardinals! Our Cardinal Store has had some large ticket items added to it, and we can't wait to open it up next week for the students to begin shopping again. If you'd like to donate items, we'd love to have them, just reach out.
On Tuesday, we had a great turn out at Urban Air and we will be announcing our classroom popcorn party with CHIRPIE next week! Our February Spirit Night will be on the 6th at Chuck E. Cheese and there are some great coupons for this event (see above).
Lastly, our next Partners for Life Meeting is Thursday, February 15th and we will be planning and discussing all of the remaining events for this school year. January, February & March are the best months for field trips, based on our testing calendar and our teachers and classroom parents/guardians are working on putting trips together for our Cardinals. If you are interested in assisting with this process, please reach out to your child's class room parent/guardian.
Don't forget to sign up and become a fan for Galaxy Digital, it's where you get some critical school information and ways to connect with our campus.

Life School re-enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year will begin January 1, 2024. With the introduction of the 4-day school week calendar, we are experiencing increased interest in enrollment. If your child attends Life School, please watch your email for re-enrollment instructions so you can act quickly to reserve your child's seat for next year.
New Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year will open February 1st. Parents, this is the time to enroll your new kindergarten students or other siblings you wish to attend Life School next year. If you have family or friends that may be interested in attending Life School, please encourage them to apply by clicking here or pass along their contact information by completing this referral form. The new student enrollment lottery will be held on February 29th.
Congrats to our 5th Grade Team for having 99% attendance last week. They have won either a popcorn party or extra recess, their choice!! Who is going to win this week?
Studies show how critical it is for students to be at school everyday, all day, all the way! To help support our LSC attendance, we are going to host a weekly competition. The class with the highest attendance percentage each week will earn either extra recess or a class popcorn party. Please make sure to help your student's class be the top class by making attendance a priority.

Digital Citizenship and Cyberbullying
This week your students will learn about online safety. Cyber safety is important to protect your children from dangerous or inappropriate websites, malware, online frauds and scams, and predators (Turner 2023). According to the Center for Cyber Safety and Education, 30-percent of kids have used the internet in ways their parents wouldn't approve.
What Parents Can Do to Keep Their Kids Safe Online
Keep your children’s computer in a common area of the home to monitor their Internet activity.
Check your child’s browser history frequently.
Use security software or tools.
Activate privacy features through your browser or internet service provider.
Know what other computers or devices your child is using.
Know your children’s passwords.
Watch for changes in your child’s behavior that may indicate cyberbullying or contact with an online sexual predator.

When you are ready to learn, you make clear, rational decisions that are based on facts and evidence. You use research to make informed statements and you are open-minded to different views than your own. You are able to see the pros and cons of a situation and make an informed decision. By doing these things, you are using the LifeLeader attribute, CRITICAL THINKING.
