Phase 1 were very lucky to have a visit from Embracing Arts this week, who provided us with a seaside sensory experience!

This week, a Penguin student was supported to hold a light toy using both hands. He then held the object and watched closely - developing strength and coordination to use both hands.

This week, we learnt about the weather as part of our inquiry into exploring our environment. We explored, heat, ice, rain and wind!

Penguin class had a great time completing a sponsored walk around the school field. Students dressed in a safari theme and where possible, were supported to complete some of the walk without their wheelchairs! Well done Penguin Class!

This penguin student has been working super hard recently to use cutlery during mealtimes. With some adult support, she is now able to take a fork/spoon of food to her mouth and make attempts to fill it again!

The Tonie Box is a favourite in Penguin Class! The students are able to operate the box and engage in storytelling independently. Here a student is using PECS to request a specific character to listen to.

This module, we are focusing on Picasso and colouring with emotion. During some outdoor learning, alongside some artwork, a penguin student explored mirrors and looked closely at his face and facial expressions!

This week we celebrated VE Day with some outdoor learning, exploring tactile resources linked to this special day.

This week, we continued our inquiry learning focus of oceans, mountains and cliffs. This week we made moon sand mountains during outdoor learning and listened to mountain themed songs!

This week we started the module by diving straight into our inquiry around the ocean, with some sensory experiences of being 'under the sea'.

This week, the Brook pathway came together for an Easter celebration afternoon. The students explored sensory stories, egg hunts and had a visit from the Easter Bunny! 

A Penguin student had great fun exploring a foot spa this week, showing great anticipation and communication skills using a switch to ask for 'more'. 

After observing an adult create a handprint by painting their hand, this penguin student confidently tried it on their own!
