Term 1: Welcome!
Leopard Class has had an amazing start to Term 1. All pupils have settled in really well and have begun to build meaningful relationships with their peers and new staff members. As a class, we are transitioning really well to new environments such as our dinner hall and are engaged in new specialist lessons such as Music and PE with our sports coach.
All pupils are displaying an awareness of a new routine and making their likes known for new sessions, especially 'Attention Autism' (bucket time) and our PSPD mindfulness sessions such as TACPAC and massage stories.
Term 1: End of term
As a class, we are so proud of all that the Leopards have achieved individually this term. Term 1, can feel a little overwhelming with lots of new change, especially regarding environments, and Leopards have taken this on fantastically! Pupils have displayed a developing understanding of their immediate environment with symbol support and are continuing to transition with confidence.
During our IB inquiry sessions we have really focused on each line of inquiry through group, sensory and play based sessions including tasting new foods, exploring new textures, identifying our features and beginning to express our likes and dislikes during each session. Each pupil has also participated really well in group sessions to enhance techniques for regulation, sharing and expressive language.
Towards the end of term, we have really loved preparing for the half term break with a variety of calming, massage and sensory stories to enable pupils to become more accepting in positive touch calming sessions.
Well done each and everyone of you. Have a wonderful half term break with your families and we look forward to seeing your return in term 2, ready for the festive season!
