We are really excited to introduce the theme for the last three modules of the school year: 'Sharing the Planet'. Throughout this module, we’ll be taking part in lots of exciting learning opportunities drawing on our lines of inquiry and the wider curriculum. Each week, we will post a little update showing you the amazing learning that has been going on in Leap Frog Class.
Module 6- Our Final Week

Module 6- Week 6
Thanks to the sunny weather, we were able to take our sensory story outside—it included plenty of splashing and water fun!Â
We used a variety of fruits to create a The Very Hungry Caterpillar

To enhance communication, we have incorporated a range of intensive interaction sessionsÂ
During role play, we bathed the baby dolls as part of our imaginative playÂ

We used our fine motor skills to create the colourful scales on the Rainbow Fish.Â
We actively engaged in water play as we explored catching fish, linking our play to our focus story The Rainbow Fish

Module 6- Week 2
The children have been developing their early maths skills by exploring counting and sorting objects by colour.Â
To explore our story Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?, the children used water and hammers to free animals from the ice, encouraging imaginative play and developing their fine motor skillsÂ
The children engaged in imaginative and sensory play as they explored the mud kitchen, developing their creativity and communication skills.Â
Module 6- Week 1
We have been developing our physical skills by exploring a variety of ball activities.Â
During the lovely sunshine, we’ve been enjoying the mud kitchen and using our imaginations in creative playÂ
To support our fine and gross motor development, we have been engaging in mark-making activities using paint and shaving foam.Â
Module 5- Week 5
During our outdoor communication session, the children actively used the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) to make requests. They engaged with various outdoor activities and communicated their needs by selecting and exchanging appropriate picture cards Â
To explore our story Handa's Surprise, the children used animal figures to create painted artworkÂ
The children have been responding positively to our Write Dance sessions, actively engaging with the music and movement. They have been enthusiastically joining in with the large arm actions and participating in mark-making activities, showing growing confidence and enjoyment.Â
Module 5- Week 4
The children explored colour sorting using a variety of manipulatives. They were encouraged to identify and group objects by colour, using hands-on resources such as coloured counters, blocks, and beads.Â
As part of our exploration of the story Handa’s Surprise, the children engaged in a hands-on sorting activity using pretend fruit. They were encouraged to sort the different fruits mentioned in the story into a basket, just like Handa..Â
During play with the bubble machine, a child discovered that pressing different buttons changed the colour of the bubbles.Â
Module 5- Week 3
To celebrate VE Day, the children explored a range of red, white, and blue sensory materials, showing curiosity and engagement as they investigated the different textures and colours. They decorated cupcakes using themed decorations, carefully spreading icing and choosing toppings. Later, the children took part in a tea party, developing their social skills.
Module 5- Week 2
As part of our learning inspired by the story Oliver’s Vegetables, children had the opportunity to explore a variety of real vegetables. They engaged their senses to touch, smell, and observe the different textures and coloursÂ
We explored creative expression by using vegetables to make marks, demonstrating curiosity and engagement in sensory art activitiesÂ
Taking advantage of the wonderful weather, we have been spending more time exploring our outdoor area. The children have particularly enjoyed using the trikes, which support the development of their gross motor skills, coordination, and physical confidence.Â
Module 5- Week 1
During our communication session, we practised our turn-taking games and engaged in intensive interaction
As part of our maths learning, we explored the Five Little Carrots song to support number recognition and early subtraction skills.Â
As part of our Understanding the World and Communication and Language development, we explored farms and identified different animals and the sounds they make, using Talking Tiles to support listening and speaking skills.
Module 4 - Week 6
We used different tools to make marks on the Easter egg outline. We used our communication aids to choose what colour we wanted to use.Â
During our cooking activity we made Easter nests. We focused on mixing using the large spoon and using the smaller spoon to transfer the mixture to the cake cases. We listened to instruction to choose named ingredients e.g 'Where is the chocolate?'
We used tools to fill up the plastic eggs with the coloured rice.Â
Module 4 - Week 5
During our outside learning we did some communication games. We used our individual communication aids to work on our targets.Â
During outside learning we did some 'ready, steady, go' games and we really enjoyed watching the rocket shoot up into the air when we stood on the launch pad.Â
During our Maths activities we did some colour sorting. We sorted the different objects into the different coloured boxes.Â
Module 4 - Week 4
On Friday 21st March we did some Red Nose Day activities. For one of these activities we used brushes to paint red noses onto faces.Â
During our sensory circle time we explore a scent of the day. We are making some good progress exploring these different scents.Â
We explored the playdough and used lots of different tools and objects to make marks. We also used the farm animals to make footprints in the dough.Â
Module 4 - Week 3
We have been working really hard practicing brushing our teeth. This is built into our daily routine and we are now a lot more tolerant of this personal care activity.Â
We explored a new sensory number song 'Five pigs jumping in the mud'. We used the sensory props and songboards to engage with the number song.Â
We have been focusing on the story 'Farmer Duck'. We explored the sound buttons with different farm animal sounds and the photos of the animals.Â
Module 4 - Week 2
We did some ball games outside. We practiced rolling and throwing the ball to an adult during a simple game.Â
We celebrated Pancake Day. In Cooking we tasted pancakes and chose our toppings. During child initiated play we explored the pancake day tuff tray and flipped the pancakes in the frying pans.Â
We listened to our favourite stories on the Tonie player. We used the objects and/or photos of the figures to make our choice of which book to listen to.Â
Module 4 - Week 1
Welcome to Module 4! During this module we will be focusing on the texts 'Dear Zoo', 'Farmer Duck' and 'Old Mcdonald had a farm'. In Write Dance we will be exploring the 'animal movement song' and engaging in sensory based mark making.Â
We practiced our filling and pouring during indoor water play.Â
We made lion pizza faces during cooking. We used our individual communication aids to make choices and practiced using tools.Â
We engaged in a fine motor activity using the playdough, pasta and hoops. We practiced using our pincer grip with small objects.Â
Modules 1-3
We are really excited to begin our learning journey and introduce the theme for the first three modules of the school year: 'How We Express Ourselves'! Throughout this module, we’ll be taking part in lots of exciting learning opportunities drawing on our lines of inquiry and the wider curriculum. Each week, we will post a little update showing you the amazing learning that has been going on in Leap Frog Class.
Module 3 - Week 6
We continued exploring our sensory story 'The Tiger who came to tea'. We used the teaset and cereal to practice filling and pouring.Â
We worked alongside the adult to explore the Doctors kit with the babies. We copied simple actions.Â
We worked with the Speech and Language Therapist and class team on joint attention activities.Â
Module 3 Week 5
We explored the sensory song 'five ducks'. We explored the ducks in the indoor water tray.Â
We took part in TAC PAC and explored different textures on our hands and feet to the music.Â
We worked on matching the number of ducks to the correct numeral to 5.Â
Module 3 Week 4
We worked on our communication targets outside. We used our own communication aids and methods to request 'more'.Â
We used different tools to make marks on the large paper.Â
We did some 1:1 maths focused activities. We sorted the segments of the caterpillar to make different coloured caterpillars.Â
Module 3 Week 3
We shared the sensory story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. We explored the fruits using touch and taste. We also worked on selecting named object from a choice of 2.
We engaged in some role-play with the food and teaset. We worked alongside the adult to complete simple actions such as chopping the food, pouring a drink and stirring.Â
We worked on our communication skills as part of our outdoor learning. We used our individual communication aids to request 'more'.Â
Module 3 Week 2
We used cotton buds to practice our pincer grip. We used the cotton buds to make marks on our Elmer picture using different colours.
This week we started Stage 2 of our attention bucket. We explored the 'Splat' activity with the plant pots and shaving foam which was lots of fun and very messy!
We explored faces with playdough and mirrors. We added on eyes, nose and a mouth to our picture.Â
Module 3 Week 1
Welcome to Module 3. Our key texts this term are 'Elmer', 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and 'The Tiger who came to tea'. We will also be focusing on a colour a week and exploring lots of sensory activities based around that colour.Â
During Write Dance we explored making marks using our hands in the cornflour.Â
At our snack table we used our individual communication aids to communicate what we would like for snack.Â
During our Maths activity we sang the song 'Five elephants jumping on the bed'. We did some supported counting with the adults.Â
Module 2 Week 7
We used our fingers to paint our Christmas baubles.Â
We explored the Christmas tuff tray with red and green pasta and lots of glitter! There were elves hiding in the pasta.Â
We explored our green themed sensory tray. We used the spoons and bowls to practice filling and pouring.Â
Module 2 Week 6
We explored our red themed sensory tray. We used the spoons and bowls to practice filling and pouring.Â
We made snowman pictures using puffy paint made wth shaving foam. We added eyes, nose, mouth, hat and arms.Â
We read the sensory story 'Dear Santa'. At different parts of the story we unwrapped the present to see what was inside. We then matched it to the photo.Â
Module 2 Week 5
During our outdoor learning we have been working on our stacking skills.Â
We used tools to complete some sticking for our Christmas cards. We chose what materials to add and explored the different textures using our hands.Â
During snack we used symbols and objects to communicate what we would like to eat.Â
