Penguins are enjoying this term's topic of 'A Special Time of Year'. We have celebrated bonfire night and are currently exploring Christmas crafts and activities. The Penguin students have particularly enjoyed a Nativity massage story this term.
Happy New Year from Penguin Class!
We have a new topic this term of 'The Wild West'. The students have enjoyed exploring sensory stories such as 'The Gingerbread Cowboy' and 'Goodnight Cowboys' with props, switches and sensory items to experience elements of the story. The students have also been working hard on their physical targets this term, they are all gaining confidence and independence in the swimming pool, it is so lovely to see and is a favourite time of the week for all!
Moving forward this term, we are working on our personal development targets of washing, continuing to immerse ourselves in our wild west topic theme and building on our communication skills through the use of photographs, chatting sheets or real objects throughout the day.
I know we will have a lot more fantastic work to update you with soon!
Lisa and the Penguins
Penguin Class have been having lots of fun exploring our Term 4 topic, 'Let's Go on an Adventure!'. Linking our learning to our theme of how the world works, the students are visiting a different country each week in our sensory journeys! They have really enjoyed experiencing the different foods, clothing, animals and temperatures found around the world. The students have also been going on some adventures during story time - including a bear hunt! The Penguins really engaged well in exploring the different props and sensory items as we went on our adventure using the class resonance board for our beat.
We cannot wait to share more of our adventures with you later this term!
Penguin class are having fun immersing ourselves into our topic, 'Fur, claws, feathers and scales!'. Pupils have been focusing on exploring different animals through our sensory stories this term of Handa's Surprise, The Three Little Pigs and Dear Zoo. We have also been focusing our learning on the idea that 'living things are connected and require care', linking to our theme of sharing the planet. Pupils have enjoyed role play based learning of feeding and washing animals to care for them.
