This term we enjoyed a class trip to Kent Life Farm. We have been exploring food in our IB lessons and took a trip to the farm to see the alotments, animals and how the farm supports us to grow and harvest our food. We enjoyed a kitchen garden workshop, exploring the farms gardens and vegetable patches, as well as visiting the animals and learning how to care for them. We had great fun and enjoyed accessing the wider community, putting all of our self help and independence skills into practice.
In PE this term we have focused on running. We have explored a range of different running opportunities to perfect our running stances. We have discussed and tried what we think the best running positions are and why. Leopard Class have really enjoyed experimenting with this in our PE sessions.
In PSPD this term we have continued to work hard on our independence and self help skills across the day. We have also explored positivie relationships and how to keep ourselves safe in the community.
In Maths this term we have continued with our number bonds, addition and subtraction. We have focused on utilising a range of manipulatives to support us with our sums, promoting our CPA approach. Our strand this term in measure is time, we have practised O'Clock using analogue clocks.
In Read Write Inc we have continued to work hard in our groups. We have explored letter sounds, decoding and blending skills as well as introducing some special friends! In our writing we have worked hard on our letter formations, following the Read Write Inc programme. As well as our pencil grip, letter sizing and keeping our writing on the line.
In our IB lessons we have enjoyed learning about recycling and plastic. We explored recycable materials and how to organsie them into the correct bins. We looked into how plastic was made and the effects it had on the environment. We were inspired to work together to create a 'Save the Sea' collage to promote recycling to save the sealife.
In Maths we have explored finding number bonds using our class rhyme and manipulatives to help us. Some of us have begun to use number bonds and manipulatives to support us with simple addition sums when working as a team.
In cooking we have been working on our independence skills when using cooking tools and following instructions. We have been working as a team to create dishes from countries all over the world following our weekly theme. We have tasted, touched and smelt new ingredients and discussed our likes and dislikes.
In our IB lessons we have enjoyed exploring hot climates. We have researched plants, weather, locations, properties and animals that can be found in a hot climate. Our focus has been around using key vocabulary to describe properties of hot climates and working as a team by sharing resources and following instructions to recreate aspects of hot climates.
Leopard Class have had a fantastic term 2. We have continued to build positive relationships with our peers and staff as well as working hard on developing our self help and independence skills. We have continued to make progress with our Maths and Read Write Inc skills and have enjoyed our topic 'A special time of year'. The past few weeks we have enjoyed lots of festive activities including our Christmas trip to the pantomime as well as working hard towards our Phase 1 Nativity.
