How does the term ALICE make you feel?

We all have different thoughts on ALICE and we want to know how you feel about it. We want you to hear a lot of ideas from other students and teachers around the school.

One of our fellow students, Zana says she thinks our ALICE drill is helpful for all students. She thinks that it’s a good way to demonstrate what to do in these situations.  Also, she likes the idea of doing these drills only twice a school year. She says it is very useful for all schools and will teach kids the steps of staying safe.

Another student, Yoali, thinks that the idea of ALICE is good but there could be a few changes to it. For example, she says the idea of locking down isn’t a very useful way to stay safe. She thinks that if the intruder has a gun, barricading the door is a waste of time because it won’t stop them. If the room has windows the intruder can shoot through the windows and get in the room. Even if the room doesn’t have windows you won’t be able to escape because of all the things blocking the door.

We wanted to hear different ideas from students around the school that would help make the ALICE drill better for students or if it is fine how it is. In conclusion, the ALICE drill is a very useful way of staying safe from intruders that get into our schools. Although there are ways that it could be improved, maybe we should leave it for the best.
