Not if I Save You First: a Book Review

Maddie and Logan were supposed to be best buds for life, but then everything changed. Things were normal for Maddie, well, as normal as things get when your dad is the Secret Service Agent and her best friend's dad ’just happens to be the president. The first lady is about to get kidnapped and it is up to the kids to get out of the way and do exactly what they were always told to do if they were in danger, press the panic button they never thought they'd have to press,  in order to save themselves and the First Lady.  And this is just the first two chapters! Not If I Save You First is a great, crazy, and adventurous book about two friends, ripped apart growing back together, all while on a crazy adventure to save each other's lives and get everything back to normal, especially their relationship.

Not If I Save You First is written in 3rd person. In the DMS Library, it is categorized as Young Adult. It was written by Ally Carter, the NY Times bestselling author. The protagonists of the story are Maddie and Logan, they’re also the main characters. The antagonist of the story is the Russian who tries to kidnap and kill the two. Maddie is the daughter of the Secret Service Agent. Logan is the son of the president, what could go wrong, right? They were always together until something unpredictable happened that changed their lives forever.

Logan’s dad, the president, was having the Russian leader over for a dinner party at the White House. The kids were in a room they weren't supposed to be in, trying to get away from the chaos of their lives for a few seconds. Suddenly, 3 Russian men came running down the hallway pushing a sizeable rolling cart with a giant, human-sized metal box on it. They saw the flowing red dress that the first lady had on that evening. Something wasn't right and the children knew it. Logan pushed his panic button, the one he never thought he’d have to use. Everything happened so fast for them. Maddie's father and Logan are shot down and the First Lady is still deathly pale and in the large metal box. Maddie’s father is forced to retire. They went to Alaska in what seemed like a second. Maddie doesn't see Logan again until 6 years later, and when she does, she wants nothing to do with him. But all that changes when the same Russian who tried to kill them all those years ago kidnaps them. They are fighting for each other's lives, and to get their lives back. What will happen next? Will it all work out? I guess you'll have to find out for yourself. 

This book is located in the DMS library. I would give this book a five-star rating because this is a great book. It is thrilling, and adventurous, and will have you on the edge of your seat while reading it. I recommend this book and hope you enjoy it!
