Reindeer are very big and strong animals. They can be as tall as 5 feet and adult reindeer can weigh as much as 400 pounds. That's heavier than a full-size refrigerator!

Reindeer are excellent runners and swimmers. They can run at speeds up to 50 miles per hour and can swim long distances. This is helpful when they migrate or move from one place to another to find food.

Reindeer are famous around Christmas time because of Santa Claus. Santa's sleigh is pulled by flying reindeer, though that varies in different countries. The most famous and well-loved reindeer of all is Rudolph, who has a glowing red nose.
