Stranger Things is about a group of children who start to witness supernatural forces and government experiments. While searching for answers, the children uncover a series of extraordinary mysteries. Stranger Things is set in the 1980s in the state of Indiana. The first season was released on July 15th 2016 and has won many awards since then.
One of the biggest inspirations for Stranger Things was the MKultra project. The MKUltra project was to develop procedures and identify drugs that could be used in interrogation to weaken people and get them to make confessions. This operation was held by the CIA and was started in 1953. The MKUltra project ended in 1973. The subjects had to go through electorshocks, drugs, isolation, verbal and sexual abuse, hypnosis, and many other forms of torture without the subject’s contest. This relates to all the subjects that were seen in season 4 that were being tested on. The Duffer Brothers did show the scenes being less gruesome and disgusting.
The Duffer brothers were also heavily influenced by Stephen King and his books, Firestarter and Carrie. The brothers wrote a script inspired and based on these two books. Firestarter is a book about a father and daughter on the run from a government agency known as the Shop. During his college years, he participated in the experiments that the Shop carried. The Shop used to experiment using “Lot 6”, which is similar to LSD. This relates to Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) being on the run from the CIA, as they were experimenting on her. The book Carrie, is about a bullied girl who later realizes that she has telekinesis. This is again similar to Eleven, as she is the character with telekinesis.
Dungeons and Drangons is an iconic symbol for Stranger Things. When you hear D&D, you think of stranger things. But have you ever wondered why the Duffer brothers chose dungeons and dragons out of the million games available to pick? Well the reason is because D&D intrudes into the lives of Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin and Eleven, as they get closer and closer to discovering a new secret about the upside down. The monster’s of the upside down also get named based on their trait. If you take Vecna for example, Vecna in D&D is a powerful wizard. Along with this, the D&D Vecna kills with his left hand and so does the Stranger thing’s Vecna. Finally, they both are undead and look somewhat like each other.

The series revolves around Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), Lucas Sinclair (Caleb Mclauging), Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) and Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink). Along with these characters, there are also other main characters like Steve Harrington (Joe Keery), Jim Hopper (David Harbour), Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer), Joyce Byers (Wionna Ryder), Robin Buckley (Maya Hawk), and Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), just to name a few.
The hero has done it! You defeated the hairy demogorgon, you crushed the 8 legged mind flayer, and you used your telekinesis to defeat the deadliest wizard– Vecna.
