Which intro did you like best?
Students at ISM are assigned large amounts of work to do and sometimes can’t figure out how to finish it all. This article explore tips for how students can finish all of the work they need to do.
First, make a plan or a to-do list, either for homework or for school work. The plan/schedule should include the steps necessary to complete the assignment so that when you walk in the class you know exactly what to do instead of wasting time figuring out what to do. Making a plan can help students to create new habits that will replace the bad habits. Of course, it is not possible to change all bad habits at once, so start small, maybe one class at a time.
Second, when it comes to homework, figure out a way to remind yourself that you have homework. You can do this by using your planner, emailing yourself, using google calendar, or whatever way works for you. Remember, you can always go to tutorials to get ahead of homework or finish work that you need to do.
Finally, do not multitask. It has been scientifically proven by the Cleveland Clinic that we are wired to be mono-taskers. One study found that just 2.5 percent of people are able to multitask effectively, and when the rest of us attempt to do two complex activities simultaneously, being able to complete those activities successfully and effectively is simply an illusion.
So, if you are struggling to complete assignments, try making a detailed plan, figuring out an effective homework system, or focusing on one activity at a time.
Do you ever find yourself sleepy in class? Do you stay up late to complete homework or simply because you lost track of time on your phone? Well, you’re not alone! Many middle schoolers complain about not getting enough sleep due to excessive homework, distractions, too many extracurricular activities, or a too-early start to the school day.
For example, Melvina C., a seventh-grader at ISM, said she only gets about six hours of sleep on an average school day. She also reported often feeling sleepy in class.
According to the National Sleep Foundation, teenagers function best with 8-10 hours of sleep, but in a survey, 85% of teens said they didn’t get that amount of sleep on an average school night.
Eighth-grader Catherine N. confessed that, ‘If I sleep earlier, I feel like I wasted my time." Sleeping isn’t a waste of time! We all know how long and painful the school day is after you’ve been up most of the night working on an assignment, and how hard it can be to concentrate when you're sleep-deprived. Even though it seems like studying is a more productive use of your time than sleeping, if you're worried about an assignment, it’s much better to talk with your teacher, maybe ask for an extension, and be well-rested and ready to learn at school.
Ahana M.M., who only gets five hours of sleep on an average school night, admitted that she spends time on her phone before going to bed. Even though this is common teenage behavior, it’s a huge mistake. Teenagers often find it difficult to fall asleep before 11pm due to the fact that their natural waking and sleeping times become later during adolescence. This is why many teens turn to their phones or laptops after some failed attempts at sleep. Don’t do this! Even though your phone may ease your boredom and discomfort temporarily, going back to sleep will by WAY harder, and I can guarantee you’ll regret it in first period the next day! Instead, use these tips to fall asleep tonight and you’ll have a much better day tomorrow.
Lots of teenagers, during the day, wish they got more sleep, but they never actually go to bed earlier at night. If you want to be fresher and do better at school, try and finish your homework earlier in the day or cut back on extra-curricular activities. Most importantly, resist going on your phone late at night--it’s not as helpful as it seems! Sleep is one of the most important things for a teenager, and we should do everything we can to get enough of it.

Waiting for a sibling because they have an after school activity? Parents are late? Want to play games but they are blocked by Cyberhound? Well, here are 7 websites to rid you of your after-school boredom!
The name really says it all. This website randomly brings you to a website with things to cure your boredom. If you don’t like this website, press it again! Eventually, it’ll give you a full list of websites to pick from.
Many people already know about this website, but for the few who don’t, this is a great website with more classic games. Run 3 is one of the most popular games on it this site, but there are many more such as Fire Boy and Water Girl, Snake, and if you’re feeling up to it, the World’s Hardest Game.
3. 1v1.lol
I found this game a few weeks ago, and it's become my go-to game when in school. If you are one of the people who enjoy games like Fortnite, this game is for you. As its name suggests, it's a 1v1 game in the exact same style as Fortnite, except there are only two guns. To play with your friends, you can create a party. You can also practice building without enemies on its other website, justbuild.lol.
The sister/brother website of Bored Red Button, this site takes you to random websites with no particular use, for instance pointerpointer.com, where the website finds a picture of a person pointing to your cursor. Exact same mechanics as Bored Red Button, except The Useless Web opens a new tab which makes it that tiny bit more annoying to change websites.
5. Scribble.io
If you’re an artistic person, this site may be for you. Scribble.io is a drawing and guessing game, essentially Pictionary. You can play this with your friends as well. This game is very long though, so you probably won’t have time to finish one competition. This is a more developed website than the others, so you should be able to play this with no problems.
This website is different from the others, as it's not really a game. It's more of a practice for other games. However, it is quite fun to try and best your last score. It is quite customizable, with the colors, cursors and speed all adjustable. This is more for people who play shooter games, so you may not enjoy it if you don’t normally play that type of game.
7. Yohoho.io
Another .io game, and the last one on the list. This is the game I went to after the school blocked krunker.io. As its name suggests, this game is about pirates. Kill other pirates, steal their gold and level up, unlocking characters and islands. It's a good game, except the controls are uncomfortable as you move with your cursor.
Hopefully this list will help rid you of your after-school boredom. If it doesn’t, you can always try to find your own entertainment!

For many years, ISM’s middle school classrooms have had lots of similarities in terms of furniture and layout. Most classrooms are fitted with very well known blue plastic chairs and white trapezoid-shaped tables pushed together. ISM’s Furniture Committee is planning on changing that by introducing more interesting and multifunctional furniture to each middle school classroom.
The middle school committee is planning on using Ms. Ramani’s classroom as an example for improving the layout of each classroom.
Ms. Ramani’s room, found on the third floor in the 8th-grade hallway, features the blue plastic chairs but also high tables and stools for students to sit on. A picnic-like bench and a table can also be found in the corner of the room. Beanbags are also another seating option the furniture committee may introduce into all classrooms. Many classrooms already feature beanbags such as the drama rooms and a few non-specified classrooms.
The point of implementing these new pieces of furniture is to help students feel comfortable, to concentrate more and be more productive. Ms. Paull from the furniture committee says, “Having more seating variety in a classroom gets the students more excited about learning."

Hey! Are you at home sick doing absolutely nothing and feeling completely dead? If so, this is the perfect article for you to have an entertaining week stuck at home. These are five steps for having a more entertaining week while sick at home .
1.Gaming
Since you're sick, you won’t be able to do much physical activity or even homework. Therefore, I recommend simply walking to your gaming console , which may be a PS4, XBOX, or Switch. It doesn’t really matter which console you have, just lay back on the couch and enjoy any video game you'd like. This will probably entertain you for about 2-3 hours. Let's get to the next step.
2. Youtube
After playing your favorite video game, the best follow up is to watch your favorite YouTuber. He or she will probably keep you entertained for about two hours, and then it’s probably time for breakfast.
3. Breakfast
Hopefully, since you're sick you will have a nice and delicious breakfast that you can enjoy for about 30 minutes. Try to ask for your favorite food and hopefully it might make you feel better and entertain you for a while.
4. Nap Time
Being sick is the worst feeling ever. Right now in the day you’re probably already super tired of staring at a screen for like four hours so for my 4th step I recommend some nice deep sleep, either on the couch or in your bed. This will let your eyes rest after some tough gaming and YouTube watching, and when you wake up you’ll hopefully be fully rested for the final step. This next step might not be all entering but it will prevent serious boredom.
5. Movie Time
Hi there! Are you awake? This is the final step and you are now fully rested. The final step for an entertaining sick day at home is to pick up the remote, open Netflix, find your favorite movie and play it. If you don’t have Netflix try to find the movie any way possible and if your stomach is feeling alright, have some microwave popcorn. Now sit back and enjoy your favorite movie with some majestic popcorn. You can use these steps basically every day of the week and hopefully you won’t get bored. I hope these 5 steps help keep you entertained while home sick and I wish you the best of luck feeling better and getting back to school.
